My sister and I grew up in the Bay area and this past weekend was my first time visiting San Francisco since my family moved to Bainbridge Island, Washington. Spending so much time away from this area (more than 3 years) has given me room to appreciate the sheer scale of the city. It felt massive but it was really good to be home.
So I have a thing about mornings in cities. I really enjoy them. At around 9 am we began our walk down from Lombard street onto Union street (where my parents first met). We passed my favorite flower stand in the entire world -pictured above- and it reminded me that I firmly believe in bringing fresh flowers into ones home at every point in the year. I decided then and there I’m going to do exactly that when I get back to Seattle. We had breakfast at Rose’s Cafe and I’d seriously recommend eating outside and people watching at this spot. The breakfasts at Rose’s are pretty legendary but I always just choose a few pastries and get a cup of coffee.
Spending my 24th birthday weekend in San Francisco was a really awesome experience. When I was younger I used to get really excited about growing up and being able to order a coffee or a glass of wine at a great restaurant somewhere in the city. So it was awesome to be able to actually do that as an adult with my mom and my best friend.
These are some things that I intend to work on my 24th year:
Focusing passion and creativity
Waking up earlier
Learning to live happily in the dark (literally it’s dark in the morning going to work and dark in the evenings coming home)
Read and write more
Actively critique and analyze my own behavior and habits
