…and first light isn’t until 7:00 AM. Before midwinter (December 21st) sunrise will be as late at 7:50 AM and the sun will set at 4:20 PM. I have been quickly realizing that there is just not enough daylight to do anything before or after work on weekdays.
“Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” - Chinese proverb
So instead of sleeping my way through winter (which mind you I could absolutely do) I have been waking up early, lighting a candle, and journaling in the Two Minute Mornings Journal my sister got me for my birthday. Before she got me the Two Minute Mornings Journal I was writing three things I was grateful for in a blank notebook every morning and night. It’s a wonderful thing to stop and think about the things I’m grateful for in my daily life. Coffee is on there a lot. So is being able to spend time with my family everyday.
This morning I wrote that I want to let go of haste and that I am grateful for waking up early enough to have a morning, rain (it was/is still pouring), and the fact that there is always coffee every morning (thanks Damir).
Currently I’m grateful for:
Finding a framed print of Bruegel’s The Wedding Dance
All of our pets (and the fact that they’re all now sort of friends)
