Well you guys, it's not Utah, but it's pretty cold in Washington. It's hovering right around freezing and there's muddy puddles all over the place so of course I pulled out my Hunter Boots, Pendleton jacket and Carhartt beanie. Staying warm is what I'm all about. Under my jacket is a plain black t-shirt dress and some opaque tights! A little Sephora brand lipstick brightens up the look and it lasts so long. Outfit details below...
I woke up last Sunday morning and immediately asked my dad if I could join his morning crabbing adventure with some new (very, very, very cool) family friends. Just because I'm almost 7 months pregnant doesn't mean I can't get on a boat and catch some crabs, right? So I joined. And the weather was perfect northwest summer weather. The water smelled so good and having the wind in my face took me back to my rowing days. We caught rock crab and Dungeness right in front of my parents' house. Later that day we enjoyed those crabs cooked on the beach in a pot of boiling salty seawater. It was an ideal Sunday. I went to bed that night full and thankful to be living in this area where I get to experience things like this!
Please excuse my sleepy/weird face. I've never held a live crab before!! It was so cool.
The adventures called for a nap afterwards. I was exhausted. The truth is, that Sunday was the day that pregnancy truly hit me. I've been completely worn out ever since.
And of course — the resulting feast. It was fantastic. Store-bought crab has nothing on the fresh stuff, I tell you!
I just love it here. Have I mentioned that lately??
