Guess What! I Moved!

By Camilla

Hello poor neglected blog of ours! Camilla here. So I have some news: a few days ago I made the big transatlantic move to Bainbridge Island, WA with 3 animals, 4 suitcases, and a whole lot of anxiety. The trip was brutal and consisted of way too many tears, an 8+ hour drive to Frankfurt, a 9 hour flight, and 2 hours in customs and immigration. But I'm here, I'm settling in nicely (give or take a few hiccups regarding insurance and my expired driver's license), my animals are healthy and happy, and I'm staying with my parents until I am able to get a home all set up.

After over a year in Slovenia enjoying life with my husband and my in-laws in our beautiful little countryside cabin, it was clear that it was time to move back to the states. Damir is off to travel the world at competitions and training camps as the next 4 months lead up to the summer olympics in Rio, and it didn't make much sense for me to be home alone. We had always planned on moving back to America, especially since we own that cute little home and can go back and stay whenever we want!

So, once again, my life has taken a major turn. I'm excited for what the future holds here in Washington. I've had a longtime crush on Seattle and the surrounding areas (since high school!) and I'm thrilled to be able to live here. I can't wait to explore and share my adventures here on this blog! Odin is transitioning from a Slovenian mountain dog to a Bainbridge beach dog pretty seamlessly, as you can see by the photo. The wild country cats handled the trip quite well and are enjoying their new giant log home that they get to explore for the time being. And I am so happy to be with my mom and dad. I have missed them immensely. And even though it's hard, I know I'll be reunited with my cute husband soon enough. We are no strangers to distance. :)

Most importantly, I want to give a very special shoutout to my incredible sister who flew out all the way to Germany to help me make the move. Words cannot describe how good it was to see her face. I have a LOT going on in my life right now and I needed a lot of extra help. This is what it's all about folks — being there for one another no matter what. I am proud of our relationship and our sister bond. I love my little Kenza Bug so much and I could not be more thankful that she came to help me. I couldn't have done it without her, seriously.

So, now you know some of what's been going on with me and partially why I've been neglecting the blog. I was too busy savoring precious moments with my husband and my friends and family over in Slovenia. What an experience it was. I am a changed woman for sure. I'm grateful to be able to have had the chance to live and learn in Europe and I am so excited about the future here in the states.

More updates soon! Lots of love.
